OGUN MARKS WORLD TOURISM DAY SEPTEMBER 27

Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism will join the rest of the world on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 to celebrate the 45th edition of World Tourism Day

This year’s celebration themed: “Rethinking Tourism” will hold at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta by 10.00 am.

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon, Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo who made this known in a statement made available to us on Friday, said Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun would be the Chief Host while stakeholders in the Tourism sector and the general public are expected to grace the occasion.

According to Adeleye-Oladapo, the occasion would feature paper presentations from veterans in the tourism industry, drama sketches by the State cultural troupe and dance performances by different cultural and drama groups.

She said the Day had been designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), to foster the awareness of tourism’s social, cultural, political and economic value as well as its contribution toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Commissioner said the theme for the year would showcase tourism’s unique ability at ensuring that nobody was left behind as the world has begun to open up again and look to the future’’.
