Obasa, in a message released by his Media Office, Eromosele Ebhomele also advised Christians in Lagos and Nigeria to use the opportunity of the season to give glory to God for the privilege of being alive to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Speaker noted God’s love for Nigeria saying the country is blessed with many patriotic citizens who are very passionate to make Nigeria bigger and better than it is currently.

He commended Christian leaders in the country for their constant prayers and intercessions on behalf of the country and its citizens while urging them not to relent in their roles of making better followers of God and His commandments.

By Olamide Yinusa

Ogun State Government has commenced the processing and payment of December 2022 salaries. Staff are expected to start getting alerts latest by tomorrow morning.

While the State regretted the delays in the payment of November salaries to some staff (about 15-20% of workforce) due to some hitches with about four banks, the first of such delay since the inception of Dapo Abiodun Administration over three and half years ago, the workers were assured of a blissful Christmas celebration.

It would be recalled that Ogun State Government is one of the few state governments that have continued to pay the national minimum wage without fail. Also, the first assignment carried out by Prince Dapo Abiodun after his sworn was the immediate payment of staff salaries, even when the departed administration made no provision for the payment.

OBASA, SANWO-OLU OPTIMISTIC TINUBU’S VISIONARY LEADERSHIP WILL WIN HIM THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

By Olufemilade Oyinade

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of the Lagos State House of Assembly have expressed optimism that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will win the 2023 presidential election.

This was as Sanwo-Olu, thanked the Speaker for his effective leadership of the legislative arm of government, noting that the successes recorded by the current administration in the State is because of the constant backing of the House.

According to a statement signed by Eromosele Ebhomele, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the duo spoke at the 20th anniversary of the Annual Thanksgiving and End of the Year Party of the Assembly on Wednesday.

They both noted how Tinubu laid the foundation for the successes recorded by modern-day Lagos State while declaring that Nigeria needs the presidential candidate in 2023.

According to them, Lagos enjoys a steady progress because the government, right from Tinubu’s era, never discriminated in appointment of the right people into positions whether in terms of religion or ethnicity.

“The relationship between the executive and the House is a definition of the unique purpose of separation of power. What we are seeing in Lagos today is the result of the rancour-free, close relationship that exists between us and the House,” Sanwo-Olu added.

In his remarks, Dr. Obasa said there were positive projections in favour of Tinubu already.

“Today, we talk greatly of our dear Lagos and how it has evolved since 1999. We today celebrate the successes achieved by the State.

“But we have Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who sacrificed and created the direction for development and progress, started the foundation and began the structure upon which successive administrations have built.

“That same Asiwaju is ready to lead Nigeria away from our usual challenges. Nigerians know that we sincerely need him. That is why I am happy that recent surveys and analysis point to his victory at the polls, the most recent being the SBM’s projection showing that Tinubu would win more of the States of the federation. We must double our efforts to see him win,” Obasa urged.

“The Speaker, who prayed for a better 2023 for all the guests and their families, noted: “In every sense, the year 2022 has been a unique year with its attendant challenges. But the good book, the Holy Bible, admonishes us to faint not but be fervent in the spirit and that if we fail not, then surely, we will be counted among the victorious.

“As the new year approaches, may your life be filled with lots of celebrations as well as happiness.”

In his sermon, Pastor Bolaji Idowu who is Lead Pastor at Harvesters International Christian Centre, Lagos, urged the guests to always understand and thank God for His mercies upon them as thanksgiving is the best way to appreciate God.

Earlier welcoming the guests, Patron of this year’s celebration, Hon. Temitope Adewale, said the thanksgiving service is an opportunity to thank God for His uncommon favour upon the House in 2022.

By Bisade Ojoye

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, commissioned the first African Quality Assurance Centre in Sagamu, Ogun State, with assurance to implement the Nigerian Quality Infrastructure Policy aimed at ensuring acceptability of Nigerian products in the global market.

President Buhari who spoke at the occasion, said the centre would encourage such policy and give confidence to producers, manufacturers that raw materials from Nigeria, are of the highest acceptable quality.

He noted that the Centre would help in job creation, address unemployment challenges and put Nigeria’s industrialization in sound footing.

“It will improve domestic consumption as our priority is to protect the lives and wellbeing of our people by ensuring the quality of what they consume. This is in line with the Federal Government policy of growing what we eat and eating what we grow.

“Quality assurance places us on the right footing as we continue to drive Nigeria’s industrialization”, he said.

In his remarks, the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, said the opening of African Quality Assurance Centre is a significant representation of government commitment to the diversify the nation’s economy from the over reliance on crude oil.

The governor regretted that Intra-Africa trade currently stood at around 14% compared to approximately 60%, 40%, 30% intrastate-regional trade that had been achieved by Europe, North America and ASEAN respectively, adding that the commissioning of the Centre was another symbolic representation of the commitment of Afreximbank as a partner in the development agenda in Ogun State.

“We are sincerely proud to be part of this success story. Our vision remains to give Ogun State focused and qualitative governance and to create the enabling environment for a public- private sector partnership, which is fundamental to the creation of an enduring economic development and individual prosperity of the people of Ogun.

“For us in Ogun State, we recognized the strategic importance of agriculture in the economic development of Nigeria and Ogun State in particular. Hence the inclusion in our Development Pillars of I.S.E.Y.A. Our main objectives in the agricultural sector include food security, agro value-chain development and agro-industrial transformation. The fact is that developing and leveraging on our agricultural sector will create employment generation, poverty alleviation, increased export and foreign exchange earnings”, he noted.

He said his administration, since inception, had focused on creating an enabling environment through the implementation of various business-friendly reforms like the establishment of the Ogun State Investment Promotion Agency, enactment of the Public Private Partnership Law and the establishment of the Public Private Partnership Office, to provides a robust regulatory framework for private sector engagement.

“Bringing this Centre to Ogun State, is a clear testament that we are not just the preferred destination of choice in Nigeria and the entire Sub Saharan Africa but as the first choice in export oriented industrial Concerns. Indeed, this initiative has again stamped our status as the Nation’s Gateway State, which also remains one of the fastest growing Industrial hubs of Nigeria, and a window into the expansive international corridor of West Africa”, he added.

The President, African Export and Import Bank (AFRIXEMBANK), Prof. Benedict Oramah, contended that standard and poor infrastructure have been a constraint of African export, stressing that the aim of the Bank is to facilitate the standard of African export through the establishment of quality assurance centres across the continent of Africa.

While noting that the centre was equipped with cutting edge technology, Oramah, said the centre would raise the bar by testing member countries export products and ensure they meet acceptable standard thus improve the continent competiveness in the global market.

The Agro-Cargo Airport and the Special Agro-Processing Zone sited in the state, the AFREXIMBANK president emphasized, would help in making Ogun State and indeed the nation, an export zone for Africa in the near future.

TINUBU HOSTS LABOUR, ASSURES WORKERS OF A BETTER DEAL

By Olufemilade Oyinade

APC Presidential Campaign Council led by its Director General and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong on Tuesday 19th December 2022 organised a Town Hall meeting with the organised Labour in Abuja where the Presidential Candidate of the APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave an insight into what his relationship with the Labour will be when elected into office.

Asiwaju who said his manifesto, “Renewed Hope” captures his plans for reviving the economy and boosting production said the Nigerian worker will have a greater deal under his Presidency.

He said his relationship with the Labour movement goes deep as he worked side by side with some of its frontline leaders in the fight for the enthronement of democracy many years ago.

Tinubu explained that his vision for Nigeria is anchored on creating economic opportunities through industrialisation, fighting corruption and enhancing security as well as harnessing the potentials of every part of the country. Jobs he said must be created for the youths which will make the economy grow while crime goes down.

He said Nigerian workers apart from deserving living wages, must be given the opportunity to own houses, access quality healthcare, get credit to afford basic necessities of life as well as have their children get quality education through student loans among others.

Tinubu assured that the Labour will be carried along in the governance process as he believes in collective responsibility which is evident from his antecedent as Governor of Lagos State where he was able to marshal resources and gurantee the survival of the State depsite drought orchestrated by the then federal government.

Director General APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong appreciated the organised Labour for giving the APC Presidential Candidate the opportunity to share his vision with them and to also explain how he intends to impact their lives and that of Nigerians in general when elected.

NLC President Comrade Ayuba Wabba while presenting a charter of demands by the workers said the Nigerian worker is the one that really creates value but yet has been under-paid, under-employed and even exploited both in and out of service.

He said workers want a living wage, social security, controlled inflation and a regime of energy security that is based on local refining of Nigerian crude rather than import of refined products which has been used to siphon money belonging to all Nigerians under the guise of subsidy.

Also speaking, TUC President Comrade Peter Osifo said the Nigerian worker is tired of being shortchanged and left with no option than to embark on strike to press for his rights.

He said in the next dispensation, the workers want to be part of a government that will be transparent, responsible and prudent in order to manage the resources of the nation rather than plunging generations yet unborn into debt.

Deputy DG PCC and former NLC President Adams Osiohmole said Asiwaju presents the best deal for Nigerian workers because of his antecedents which clearly show that he is compassionate, strategic and open to carrying all sectors along.

He said a vote for Tinubu will make the Nigerian worker comfortable enough to give his best for the growth of the nation.

Dr. Makut Simon Macham
Director of Press and Public Affairs to the DG APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State.

ABIODUN CHARGES CLERICS TO PREACH GOD INSPIRED SERMONS

By By Bisade Ojoye

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has called on the church to ensure that clerics preach God inspired sermons, which according to him was important for spiritual upliftment of the people and nation.

Abiodun who described a man of God as a good shepherd and a sincere preacher, noted that he was also a forthright and selfless personality.

He also urged the church to radiate the spirit of thanksgiving around it and the country as a whole.

Abiodun who made this call during the Annual Family Thanksgiving of the Communion Faith Assembly International, said people should count their blessings as the year was coming to an end, urging them not to look at the little things God did for them, but ensure that they have an attitude of gratitude.

“If the church as a body of Christ must look forward, it must radiate the spirit of thanksgiving around the church which will radiate to the whole nation.

“It is important that you men of God preach God inspired sermons, because our people come here and they believe in you, they believe in God through you, please ensure that you preach God inspired sermons.

The governor, however, urged the people to ensure they were not disenfranchised during the forthcoming general elections, noting that they should endeavour to get their Permanent Voter’s Card.

“Let me implore you, as we approach the year 2023 general elections, do not be disenfranchised, and that journey starts by you collecting your permanent voter’s card, without your PVC, you will be disenfranchised. For you to have a leader you deserve, you must get your permanent voter’s card so that you can exercise your franchise,” he said.

In his remarks, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, while congratulating the Christian Association of Nigeria on the annual thanksgiving service, urged the governor to continue to have faith in God.

In his message, Bishop David Bakare who took his message from the Book of Isaiah 61 vs 3, noted that the password for thanksgiving for every individual is “thank you”.

Bakare who also added that thanksgiving was a defence and a garment, noted that, when people thank God for His mercies through praises, they are beautified.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun State and the General Overseer of the Communion Faith Assembly International, Bishop Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, who described Governor Abiodun as a complete gentleman, commended him for the infrastructural development of the state.
