Members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council have said that they were not mourning but celebrating their late Chairman, Comrade Soji Samson Amosu, because according to them he lived a good life and gave his all in the service of the union.
Speaking today, November 20 on behalf of the Interim Chairman, Toyin Oluwa and all members of the union at a special remembrance service at Antioch Baptist Church, Ibode Olude, Abeokuta, the Interim Secretary of the union, Comrade Femi Osipitan said they were happy and had reason to celebrate him because he served with the fear of God in his heart, adding that even at the point of death in his sick bed, he remained steadfast to his believe in God. “He lived exemplary live worthy of celebration” he stressed.
A year ago the cradle of Journalism in Nigeria, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council was thrown into tumour on the sudden passing of its chairman, Comrade Soji Samson Amosu after a brief illness.
Inspite of the fact that Late Amosu administered Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun Council at a troubled time; a time the union was enmeshed in unhealthy leadership rivalry, he exhibited a high degree of quality leadership that kept it together.
His dexterous vision, strives and drives espoused him as a team player, a lover of peace, sensitive, and developmentally oriented leader. His approachability, amiability, accessibility made his demise irreparable.
Amosu was dependable, resourceful and forward looking and a selfless man who fought so assiduously and conscientiously to his last breadth in order to keep the union together.
