OGUN TASKS MISSION BIRTH ATTENDANTS ON BEST PRACTICES

The Chairman of Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board (OGAMB), Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye has called on the State Mission Birth Attendants (MBA)and other stakeholders in the sub-sector of health system to ensure best practices in maternal child care delivery so as to meet up with the annual targets for the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) in the State.

In a Press release signed by Dolapo Jinad, the Press Officer of the board and made available to us Chief Balogun Olaleye disclosed this at the opening programme of year 2022 annual refresher course for the Mission Birth Attendants in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

The raining programme was organized by the National Mission Birth Attendants and Health Workers Associon with the aim of ensuring wellbeing of pregnant women during their delivery.

He commended the Association for the laudable training programme, saying it would promote overall well-being of women at the stage of pregnancy and children below the age of 5 among others in no small measure.

He further emphasized the importance of comprehensive healthcare which included various sectors such as nutritional Services, medical care during the pregnancy and post pregnancy period.

The Board Chairman noted that increasing rate of maternal mortality was preventable only if all hands could be on deck at the same, adding that it has become a global trend being passed from one generation to another promted the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration to establish Ogun State Alternate Medice Board, so as to regulate and coordinate activities of the practitioners in the State to complement government’s efforts.

Earlier in her welcome address, the National President, Mission Birth Attendant, Reverend, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Quodri, appreciated the effort of the present administration in the State and the Chairman OGAMB for, according to him liberating the sub-sector in the last one year with a lot of transformational changes which had took place, and had made it imperative to continue to train and retrain in line with the OGAMB directive.

One of the participants, Mrs. Aderibigbe Salako, commended the leadership of the State Alternate Medicine Board, for coming down to everybody level and to redevelop them in line with modern day practices, assuring the state government of their continuous support.
