Nigeria’s new Cargo Airport being built by the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration in Ogun State, in the South West of Nigeria has received the attention of international aviation agencies which include amongst others: International Air Transport Association, (IATA), the association of airline traders around the world; local regulatory agencies such as NCAA, NAMA, NIMET and FAAN.
The hint was dropped by the state Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya while taking senior editors on a facility tour of the Agro Cargo Airport.
He was optimistic that the project would stimulate economic activity around the corridor as the agencies have all indicated interest in the new Agro Cargo Airport as a result of its strategic location as well as the Control Tower, Runaway and Fire station within the airport, which is the first of its kind in Africa, are near completion.
Engineer Akinsaya has also disclosed that the well structured security network and safety package of the airport has also caught the fancy of the two major critical aviation security and safety formations, the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Immigration Service(NIS).
The IATA represents 290 airlines in 120 countries and the association carries 83 percent of the world air traffic.
Among its members are world’s leading passenger and cargo airlines.
