The governor’s aide however encouraged Community Development Associations (CDA) to educate their members on the need to always and properly evacuate their drainages in order to remove properties constituting restrictions to drainage channels.
The statement further reads: “following these predictions, there is need for the general public, especially residents of the State to prepare for the likely impact of this year’s weather pattern.
“Consequently, residents in wetlands areas with low rainfall infiltration such as lsheri, Akute, Warewa, Oke-afa,Owa and Yemule Riverbanks in Ijebu-ode, Onihale in Ifo, Ogun Waterside, Ebute-Kimobi in Ijebu-East and those living near flood plains of Sokori, Arakanga and Onikoko-River in Abeokuta, Eruwuru in Sagamu, Ijamido, Isaka Owode-Yewa in Ado- Odo Ota Local Government are advised to take precautionary measures during its season.

“Ogun State as an agrarian State, looks forward delightfully to the season of rainfall to support our investment in Agriculture, Afforestation and Climate Change Adaptation Programs.
“The need for effective collaboration with the Government to prevent devastation of improperly managed rainfall and consequences of flooding is therefore compelling.
“The season of rainfall is not a curse but a blessing. Please support the State government to keep our State free of flood”, Oresanya pleaded.

“I believe certification should be competence based. Whoever specialises in a particular area of professional calling should be able to back it with practical demonstration, that is why we, in Ogun state, are working assiduously in line with Federal Government project on Youth Development project to ensure that our graduates are skilled in vocational training. “If you acquired a training you should be able to demonstrate it”, he stressed.

Our technical Colleges are training vocational skill because we believe, if we failed to develop our technical hands there is no way we can develop our industries.
“As we speak, enrollment into our Technical colleges in recent time has improved tremendously and we are now thinking of how to establish more colleges to cater for more intakes. Even in our secondary schools today, we make our students to do trade subjects which are introduced so that when they leave school, they will have a trade which will enable them do something with their hands”.
He advised the organisers not rest on providing empowerment alone, adding that participants should be counselled to maximize their talents, because according to him, some young people who are supposed to be in tailoring are languishing in carpentry. Some who should be in bricklaying are into auto mobile business while others who should have chosen metal works are into hairdressing business. “They need to be thought comparative. advantage”.
Omoba Abiola Ogundeko, Head of Directorate of Youth and Sports of Remo Growth and Development Foundation (RGDF) said the empowerment programme was conceptualised to empower the youth and realign them to ideal and developmental paths by looking inward into their potential endowments and vocational skill that would help them to be self-employed and also become leaders in the own right.

We want to train them to understand that, to run a business is not money first, but to determine the business plan they want to go into; the know how and do indept study analysis. What I mean here is for them to first do thorough feasibility and viability Study of such projects.
“The training is verse, covering almost all areas of human eadeavours, but we believe agriculture, which is Nigeria’s main occupation could take precedence. If a participant chooses agriculture, we will provide seedling and technical assistance, and perhaps expanse of land for farming and export arrangements. We do not intend to start by giving out cash, but when we evaluate and see the need for it, we will avail such beneficiaries. The project is not business as usual. We have generated a lot of ideologies.

In its drive to develop Ogun State, no less less than 25,000 Youths would benefit from the employment opportunity the on-going Agro-Cargo Airport would provide when completed.
Records have it that between February 21st & Friday, April 14 the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in Ogun State has attracted a Foreign Direct Investment of One Hundred and Sixty Five Billion, Eight Hundred and Eight Million Naira worth (₦165,808,000,000.00) to Ogun State.
This is Unprecedented in the history of investment opportunity in the state as the Governor, Prince Abiodun has been working assiduously and conscientiously to place the state on an enviable position on real business and investment platform and not Power Point Presentation!
Ogun State government has signed a $400m Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a foreign firm, Arise Integrated Industrial Platform, on the development of Olokola Free Trade Zone and Remo Agro Processing Zone.
The state governor, Dapo Abiodun, signed this MoU with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Arise Integrated Industrial Platform, Gagan Gupta, on Friday, at the Exco Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Abeokuta.
Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, Mr. Gupta, disclosed that his organisation would focus on the Olokola Free Trade Zone and the Remo Agro-Processing zone.
He explained that the $400m would be for the completion of phase one of the projects, saying by July 2023, the investment would be higher.
According to him, his organization would focus on developing the infrastructure at the Olokola Free Trade Zone as well as the Remo Cluster Area and the Agro Cargo airport in the area of agro-processing.
Gupta who also noted that the intention of the group was to ensure that work starts on the industrial zone by the first of July this year, added that the group would also focus more on the upstream sector.
The Arise Integrated Industrial Platform founder added that his company would bring equity to the floor by leaving 35% open for national players and the state, saying “we would be glad to have Ogun State as a partner”.
“Our ethical moral is that we will have 65% equity and leave 35% open for the national players, including Ogun State. We want the state to be our partner and the state will take some equity and the national players will take some equity,” he stressed.
Gupta commended the level of information made available by the state government to his team when it came on an assessment of the zones to be invested in.
“After visiting Ogun State for two weeks, we were very pleased by the amount of information that was shared. I must confess I had no expectation that the information woul be so readily available, it looked like we were dealing with the private sector and not government”, he submitted.
Responding, Governor Abiodun commended the company for choosing Ogun and noted that the project would not only create employment opportunities, but would be a training hub as the company would set up a technical training centre to train artisans for the sustenance of the project.
He said: “We are happy to find a partner that is afrocentric; that understands the sub-region and all the issues that pertain to the people and is ready to spend over $400m. We are indeed very excited that you are in Ogun State.
“I am glad you are setting up two Economic Zones, one in Olokola which will deal with mobility and automobiles and the other one, the Remo Cluster which will take care of agro- processing. We will support you and we will leave no stone unturned. Our support to you will be total. The infrastructure you will bring will lead to more investors coming to our state”.
Abiodun said his administration at the inception had identified the comparative advantage of the state and set out to bring in more investors whose investments would not only enhance the socio-economic well-being of the people, but also retain the state’s position as the industrial capital of the country.
He reiterated that “Ogun remains the safest state in the country due to the security architecture put in place, while over 400km of road had been constructed and various reforms and policies put in place to help improve the Ease of Doing Business ranking of the state”.
The governor, however, said that the signing of the MoU was the fall-out of the road shows he took part in different parts of the world, noting that “it will create over 25,000 jobs, a technical training centre and a platform that will benefit the state and the country in the form of Corporate Social Responsibility. My administration will do everything to sustain this relationship”.

A Remo-born business analyst, Segun Olusola, has said the society and not the government should be blamed for ritual killings and some other security challenges facing the nation, adding that most Nigerians love to shift blames instead of taking responsibilities.
According to him, children growing up to become ritual killers, kidnappers, rapists and others shows that some parents have failed in their responsibility to raise children who would be useful to the society.
He also blamed the people for failing to support security agents in intelligence gathering.
“In Nigeria, we like to shift blames instead of taking responsibilities. Everything starts from the home. Parents must take responsibilities. Everything cannot just be pushed at the desk of the government. People must take responsibilities. It is intelligence gathering that is lacking in Nigeria. The earlier we see one another as stakeholders and shareholders in the Nigerian nation, the better we will be. If we see anything unusual in our environment, we should call the authorities immediately. There is Amotekun, police and all of them, but we are not giving them intelligence reports You’re the first custodian of security matters.
“In movies, we propagate ritual killings, we make it look normal. Government should censor our films. Religious leaders should preach morals. It is so bad that nobody is propagating hard work again. Government alone cannot solve this problem of insecurity. It is everybody’s business.”
Olusola, who is the Gbolugboye of Isara Remo, Ogun State, in an interview with African Advocate, said it was time for the youth to get involved in politics, asking all well-meaning Nigerians not to leave politics to people with questionable characters.
“Vagabonds, idiots will take over the affairs of the nation if the elite stay away. Some educated people do not have PVC. The best of us should come out and get involved in the leadership struggle of this nation.
“The elders have the right to contest, let every individual that has capacity come out to contest, regardless of their ages. We need youths in government, but not youths that want to loot the country. We need youths with ideas and competence. We need the best to lead the nation come 2023,” he stated.
The University of Liverpool MSc graduate berated some lawmakers who he said had not been representing their constituents effectively.
According to him, majority of elected lawmakers are in Abuja to do their biddings instead of representing the constituents that elected them to be their ears and eyes at the parliament.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) member said Remo Federal Constituency comprises Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North Local Governments but lamented that since the creation of the constituency in 1991, Remo North has not been allowed to represent Remo constituency at the lower chamber.
“People that go to Abuja always neglect their constituents and I believe we should be yearning for a new representation.
“Since the creation of Remo Federal Constituency in 1991, nobody from Remo North Local Government has been given the opportunity to represent the constituency. I believe this is the time for Remo North to represent the constituency at the federal level,” he said.
The Ogun East indigene expressed confidence that the APC would win the 2023 general elections, irrespective of what might happen over the party’s presidential ticket.
“Many people thought APC would collapse after the National convention, but it was a lie. I want to assure you that APC will not fall after the presidential primary. By May 2023, an APC candidate would be sworn in as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor,” he added.
