the first Ukrainian woman. Wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky. She is at the moment one of the most searched names on the Internet since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Olena Selenska is a woman who has left her mark on society with her stance on gender equality which has garnered global attention.
On the wake of Russian offensive, Selenska joined the President in encouraging the people of Ukraine. This was contained in Selenska shared message on social media. Addressing the people of Ukraine, Selenska wrote on social media: ‘My dear people, I have been thinking about you all day. I saw you on the internet, on TV and on the street. I’m watching your video and posts. Do you know why? You are extraordinary human beings. I’m proud to be able to live with you in this country. Now I have no fear. I’m not crying. I am now sitting calmly with confidence. My children stare at me. I will be with them. I will be with my husband and you’.
Selenska confirms that she supports Ukraine’s decision to defend their country at whatever cost.
Selenska was born in 1978 in Krivi Ri. After completing her higher education in architecture, Selenska turned to writing. Olena Selenska is one of the founders of Kavartal 95, a leading construction company in Ukraine. She has written contents for movies and television shows.
Selenska and her husband, Selensky have two children. Their daughter, Olesandra was born in 2004 and son, Kyrylo was born in 2013.
